A Pure Heart

AFFIRMATION: I have a heart that is open and loving towards others.
I am confident in myself and the abilities that God has given me.
The doors of heaven are open to me because I love myself and
others totally and unconditionally.
Notes From My Church-Testimony Time
PLACE: Lakewood Church-Houston, Tx
Joel Osteen, Pastor
DATE: Saturday, Nov. 26, 2006
TIME: 7:00 p.m.
THE MUSIC: Steve Crawford and Da’dra Greathouse were the worship leaders for the annual Thanksgiving testimony service. Among the songs sung were “Come in From the Outside”, “Mighty To Save”, “Highly Exalted”, “Majesty” and the absolutely beautifully performed “The First Noel.”
THE MESSAGE: I always enjoy the annual testimony service because it is encouraging to hear of the wonderful things that God is doing in the lives of others. The participants this year spoke of physical healings, a healed marriage, restored finances and a fulfilled promise.
One woman told of being healed of cancer. She spoke on how Pastor Joel’s teachings helped her to stand on the word of God and fight for her health. When she was undergoing treatment she told of how a nurse told her that the red dye that was used was called “the red devil”. She said immediately she confessed that the dye was not the devil but “the blood of Jesus flowing through her body”. God healed her of cancer and restored her son to her as well.
Another woman spoke on how a sickness caused her and her husband to have trouble conceiving a child they so badly wanted. It was such a blessing to hear how God healed her body and enabled her to conceive. Their dire financial situation caused by a lack of insurance was also miraculously transformed.
Those with financial difficulties could certainly relate to the next couple who spoke of financial hardship with debt close to $180,000. The husband described coming home and sitting in total darkness because he was depressed and terrified of what would happen to him and his family. His turning point came when he did three things. He kept tithing, he decided to come out of debt, and he had a vision of victory.
His wife spoke blessings over him as he left for work. She declared that he was the number one performer in his firm and that he was the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath, a lender and not a borrower. She also put scriptures throughout the house, futher creating a vision of victory. Through the faithfulness of God the husband said that they are totally debt free. He said that God told him his greatest moment was not becoming debt free but making a decision to come out of debt.
The next two couples spoke of a restored marriage and a fulfulled promise. The first couple spoke of wanting to abandon their marriage. The turning point came when the husband asked his wife to come to church. The wife said she remembered praying that something would have to change or she was going to leave her husband. She tearfully recounted praying with a prayer partner and sensing a turning point in her marriage and in her own life.
The next couple received a promise from God for twins (one boy & one girl). They told of waiting and waiting in vain. They memorized and spoke faith scriptures, acted on their faith and got a pink and blue nursery ready and waited on God to fulfull his promise to them. It seemed as if it was not going to happen, then one day they received the words they were waiting for from the doctor. They were having twins!! The awesome part of this story is that they waited for 29 years. 29 years!! God was faithful and fulfulled his promise.
This was such an enjoyable service because it lets all of us know that God does love us and He wants us to be blessed. Pastor Joel is always speaking of us being victors and having our dreams fulfilled. He tells us to stay in an attitude of faith and remain filled with hope. Beliveve that God has a great plan in store for your life today!
THE ATMOSPHERE: After hearing such awesome testimonies the atmosphere was full of praise and thanksgiving. All of the participants went up on the stage (including the babies) and the choir, lead by Steve and D’adra sung a closing song of praise. They performed the song, “How Great is Our God.” What a perfect ending! God is great and He is always watching and waiting to perform His word in our lives.

My family and I are constantly listening to gospel music. My kids fall asleep listening to Praise 92.1 and gospel music is always playing in our car. I would like to share with you my top 5 songs for this week. And the top five for this week are…………
1. Donnie McClurken-“We Fall Down”-Donnie McClurken is one of my favorite gospel singers. This song was a breakout song for Donnie and it touched many people with its’ simplicity and truth. It allowed us to take a breath and realize that we all make mistakes and it is God’s forgiveness and mercy that enables us to start again.
2. Smokie Norful-“I Need You “- I woke up listening to this beautiful song one day. It was a great reminder to me that I need the grace of God all the time. Like Smokie sung in the song…………I need God’s grace “right away”.
3. Hezekiah Walker-“I Need You To Survive”-This is one song that should be sung in every church and every home. The words are simple but carry a strong message. We all need to support and pray for one another. We are all one with each other and God. A stanza from this anointed song:
I need you, you need me,
We’re all a part of God’s body.
Stand with me, agree with me.
We’re all a part of God’s body.
It is His will that every need be supplied
You are important to me, I need you to survive.
4. Dottie Peoples-“Closet Religion” is on Wow Gospel 2003-This is classic gospel and classic Dottie! Reminds me of the foot stomping and hand clapping songs that I heard growing up.
5. Mary Mary-“Can’t Give Up Now”-Also on the Wow Gospel 2003 CD. If you ever felt like giving up on something or someone, listen to this song. It will remind you that you have come too far to give up.
And those are my favorites for this week! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Bless someone with the good news that is always in great Gospel music!!
