THE MUSIC: This week the praise and worship was led by Cindy Ratcliffe & Israel Houghton. As always, Israel brought another level of excitement with his lead vocals on “Turn it Around” and “Favor of the Lord”. These songs are on Israel and New Breed’s Alive in South Africa CD.

Other songs sung were “Sing Unto The Lord”, “Forever God is Faithful”, “Sing Over Me” and the Fred Hammond penned song, “Keep on Praising”. One song I really enjoyed was Martha Munizzi’s “Always Welcome”. This song was led by Cindy and the reverence in her voice made the lyrics to this song really come alive. A stanza of this beautiful song is listed below:

“The door to You is open wide
And I am always welcome
Your life and truth I find inside
And I am always welcome
You draw me in to where You dwell
And I’m welcome.”

I know I said this last week, but the praise and worship time was awesome. The worship leaders, ensemble members, choir and band work together so well. It is obvious that they love God and they are dedicated to praising Him with their gifts. I hope they realize what a difference they make in the lives of others, not only here in the States but all over the world.

THE MESSAGE:
Scripture References: Isaiah 61:7, Psalm 27:10 1 Samuel 17:28
Subject: Not Allowing the Critical Voices to Steal The Victory in Your Life

Sermon Synopsis: Pastor Joel spoke this week on not allowing others to cause you to give up on your dreams. He said we defeat our critics by flying higher, like an eagle does. We are called to be like the eagle by soaring above the problems of life. Answer your critics by the life you lead.

He also talked about not allowing your critics to keep you in fear. Not everybody will understand the dream God has placed in your heart. Your destiny is not tied to other people. He said that the dream in your heart may be bigger that the environment you are currently in. In order to soar you may have to change your environment.

Of course, this is only a very short summary of Pastor Joel’s sermon. To get the full effect you can watch this service and other archived services at http://www.lakewood.cc/ or http://www.joelosteen.com/.

THE ATMOSPHERE: My children love to go to Children’s Church. They learn a lot about God and there is always some fun activity to keep them interested. I think it says a lot about the atmosphere for kids to be excited to go to church.

……..and that is what happened in my church this week. What was it like in your church this week? The entire universe is filled with God’s love and grace. We would love to hear about your church service. Post a comment or e-mail me at dominique@1800gospel.com and tell us all about the music, the message and the atmosphere at your church.
