Joel Osteen, Pastor

DATE: Saturday, July 8, 2007
TIME: 7:00 p.m.

THE MUSIC:

Worship Team: Steve Crawford, Da’dra Crawford Greathouse, Choir & Band
Songs: Come In From The Outside, We Win, We Have Overcome, We’ve Come To Worship, Majesty, So We Lift, Turn It Around

Steve and Da’adra, the duo otherwise known as the brother and sister team Anointed, led worship. They are such a great pair to listen to because of the great chemistry they have on stage from many years of singing together. Their energy and passion for what they do is contagious and they give 100% every single time they hit the stage. It’s been great to hear many of their songs played on the radio recently. A favorite of mine is “Gonna Lift Your Name on High” from the Now Is the Time CD.

The Lakewood Church Children’s Choir blessed us with a song. They are always such a treat to listen to, because they are so cute. They did a great rendition of “You Are The One” by Lincoln Brewster led by Michael Woelfel. I first heard Michael sing during Camp KidsLife. He has a great voice that is very distinctive. My little one recognized him as the praise and worship leader from his class and talked about the energy he displays during worship time. Take a look at the kiddies in action. Thanks Greg for the video!

THE MESSAGE:
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 1:18 & 1:6, Titus 3:7, Proverbs 23:7, 2 Corinthians 5:17, Romans 5:1
Subject: How Do You See Yourself? Are you wearing God’s glasses?

Quick Notes From The Sermon:
Pastor Joel is in the UK, so the message was given by Marcos Witt, Lakewood’s Spanish Pastor. Pastor Witt is always a favorite because of the way he uses humor to get his point across. This sermon was no exception. The wig and big red glasses got a big laugh out of the audience while making his point crystal clear.
Marcos said what we believe about ourselves determine our behavior. If you think you are a nobody, that is what you will be.

A lot of what we think about ourselves is incorrect. How do we correct our perspective? We look at ourselves through the eyes of God.

1. How does God see us? Answer: Acceptable
If we can see how much God loves us, our lives would never be the same. If we see ourselves through God’s glasses, we would see grace. We don’t deserve all of our blessings, but we get them anyway because of grace.

2. How do you reprogram your vision? Answer: Destroy the old glasses and put on God’s glasses.
God has given us rule and reign over the earth and we are his ambassadors. We are approved by Him. See yourself through God’s eyes.

THE ATMOSPHERE:The atmosphere at Lakewood Church is filled with God’s love. I really feel that God wants us to know of the great love He has for us. He wants us to get that knowledge deep down on the inside. The love He has for us is not conditional and never changes. He loves us so much His son laid down His life for us to live.

Pastor Witt talked about how our lives would change if we really understood the deep love that God has for us. Pastor Joel and his team are in Europe right now talking about the same thing. Everything comes down to love, and if we grasp the enormity of God’s love for us, our lives would never be the same.

….and that is what happened in my church this weekend. What was it like in your place of worship this week? The entire universe is filled with God’s love and grace. We would love to hear about your church service. Post a comment or e-mail me at dominique@1800gospel.com and tell us all about the music, the message and the atmosphere at your church.
