PLACE: Lakewood Church-Houston, Tx
Joel Osteen, Pastor
DATE: Saturday, July 28, 2007
TIME: 7:00 p.m.
THE MUSIC:
Worship Team: Cindy Ratcliff, Steve Crawford, Da’dra Crawford Greathouse, Choir & Band
Songs: Salvation is Here, Highly Exalted, My Savior Lives, Your Love, The Stand, My Hope, I’m Still Standing, Pray
Another great worship service started off with a Hillsong favorite, “Salvation is Here”. My little ones can be heard singing this great song around the house. I guess it is a favorite in children’s church, too. It is great to see the chemistry that Cindy, Steve & Da’dra have among themselves. They are totally in sync with each other and their sincerity and love for God translates perfectly to the audience.
“Your Love” was another great selection. I’ve been hearing a lot of teaching lately about God’s love for us. When I heard this song all of what I heard instantly came back to me. God’s love for us is amazing. It is something that we can’t totally understand the depth of. This song does a great job of explaining God’s love for us:
Higher than the heavens,
Stronger than the sea,
Mightier than mountains,
Your love amazes me.Sweeter than the sunrise,
Tender as my tears,
Perfect as Your promise,
Singing over me.Your love, I could never measure,
Your love, ever enduring,
Your love, more than I imagine,
What can separate me from Your love.
Another favorite for me was “The Stand”. One of the things I love about Lakewood worship is the atmosphere that is created for everyone to worship in their own way. I love the portion of this song that states: I’ll stand with arms high and heart abandoned/in awe of the one who gave it all/I’ll stand my soul Lord to You surrendered/all I am is Yours. Worship gives everyone an opportunity to give honor to God.Â
The song “Pray” by Fiona Mellett was excellent! I really liked how she sung the Our Father’s Prayer in the middle of the song. You can visit Faith Based Blog to enjoy “Pray” and Da’dra singing “My Hope”.
THE MESSAGE:
Scripture Reference: Mark 11:24, Genesis 11:6, Matthew 19:26
Subject:Â The Power of Visualization
Quick Notes From The Sermon:
Pastor Joel gave a great sermon this week about the power of visualization. He said that God created us as visual beings and we are able to visualize the way we want our lives to be. Create a picture of what you desire and eventually it will become a part of your subconscious. Our subconscious mind never sleeps. It is working for us 24 hours a day. It acts upon what is put into it. That is why it is important what we put into it.If you can imagine it, God is saying that it is possible for you.
We move towards what we are constantly thinking about. God would not put the dream into your heart if you didn’t have what it takes to bring it to pass. Take 30 seconds a few times a day to close your eyes and see yourself rising above your circumstances. Get a vision of yourself overcoming all obstacles. If you get it on the inside, you will move towards your vision of victory.
Pastor Joel said that when he is stressed he takes a couple of breaths and repeats the following: I’m breathing in confidence and breathing out fear, I’m breathing in healing and breathing out sickness, I’m breathing in victory and breathing out defeat. Pastor Joel said that when we have the right image in our minds and speak words of victory, God will do what men can’t do. See yourself the way God sees you. Use your imagination for the right reasons and envision yourself as victorious and reinforce it with prayer and thanksgiving.
We all are visualizing something. When you use the power of visualization for the right purpose, you will change the course of your life. Get an image of God changing things in your life. See yourself as the victor, not the victim. Joel gave a wonderful account of how he used the power of visualization to bring to pass acquiring the Compaq center 3 years before it happened.
