5. Don’t forget to tune in to “Sunday Best” & “Exalted” on BET on Tuesday night! I’ve really been enjoying watching these shows. I’m so proud that Gospel Music is being portrayed in such a wonderful way. The past weeks shows on “Exalted” have been on Bishop Kenneth Ulmer and Bishop Paul Morton, and they provided information to me that I had not known about these great leaders. I love to watch autobiographies because you get a sense of what makes a person who they are. A lot of people see others for who they are on the surface, but they don’t see the hard times, struggle and heartache. This week’s show will be on Bishop Charles Blake.

Sunday Best has been a lot of fun to watch. The judges, Mary Mary and BeBe Winans, have been providing some helpful, but gentle critiques to the contestants. Some contestants to watch out for are Crystal,  Emily, and Shari. Crystal sung a beautiful version of CeCe Winans, “Alabaster Box” and the audience and the judges loved it. Something about that song just makes the tears come. Be sure to check out these two shows on Tuesday!

October 25, 2007 · Filed Under Notes From My Church · Comment

PLACE: Lakewood Church-Houston, Tx
Joel Osteen, Pastor

DATE: Saturday, October 20, 2007
TIME: 7:00 p.m.

THE MUSIC:
Worship Team: Da’dra Crawford Greathouse, Steve Crawford, Choir & Band
Songs: Come In From The Outside, For All You’ve Done, Again I Say Rejoice, Mighty To Save, How Great is Our God, How Great Thou Art, Turn It Around, I Will

Don’t forget to get your copy of the new worship CD, Free To Worship !! Visit Lakewood.cc to purchase a copy and hear samples or call l-888-232-2968. A lot of the songs sung during worship service are on the CD. This would be a great gift for someone that needs to be encouraged or is shut-in.

One of the songs on the CD, "Mighty To Save", was performed. I like this song because of the sensitivity and honesty of the lyrics. God is mighty to do everything and anything, yet He loves us enough to understand our failures, fears and shortcomings. He takes us as we are and makes our lives brand new.

The Lakewood Children’s Choir sung their version of Israel’s "I Will", and they were terrific. They looked great in their black and gold and they were having a great time. Holly and her team is doing a great job! Two of the children led the song and they surprised me with the strength and confidence in their voices. I loved the ending of the song!! Too cute! Enjoy!:

THE MESSAGE:
Scripture Reference: 2 Corinthians 3:18
Subject: We Are Complete in Christ

Quick Notes From The Sermon:
Sermon was given by Min. Marcos Witt
Man and God go together. If you take God out of the equation, lives would be empty. Pastor Witt said that there is a "God shaped void" inside each of us that only God can fill. When God fills this void we understand that we are being transformed into the likeness of God. We live in a society that places a lot of value on position and possessions. If you live your life always trying to impress others you will live a very frustrated life.

When we understand that we have the image of God on the inside we can walk around with confidence. We would have no need to impress others. We understand fully that we are complete in Christ. Pastor Witt explained people can say what they want as long as you know that Christ is the one that completes us. God is our shield and He is the only way, truth, and life.

**These are my quick notes from the sermon. To get the full effect you can watch this service and other archived services at Lakewood’s website or Pastor Joel’s website. You can also sign up for the free podcasts or call 1-800-487-0565 for copies of the sermons.

THE ATMOSPHERE:
Have you seen Pastor Joel’s new book in Walmart? Everyone is excited about the new book and CD. During service today we were shown a video of Joel and Victoria in New York. The arena was packed! It was awesome to see the impact that the Lakewood ministry is having there.

Love your church and the services? Have you ever wished that you could share your joy with the world? We would love to feature your church on 1800Gospel. Post a comment or e-mail me at dominique@1800gospel.com and tell us all about the music, the message and the atmosphere at your church. We would love to hear from you!
