Thanks to the entire music team for another great new song! The title is "Abundance of Rain", and it was inspired by Pastor Joel’s messages of hope and encouragement. Led by Steve, it ties in wonderfully with the spirit of faith at Lakewood. This is Sunday’s version courtesy of Faith Based Blog . I’ll be singing this one all week. I can hear the sound…….
I can hear the sound,
It’s the sound of an abundance of rain.
I can see the cloud,
Filled with God’s favor,
It’s heading this way.Heavenly raindrops fall on me,
As I worship here this day,
My heart is glad to receive what’s for me,
In the abundance of rain.
THE MESSAGE:
Scripture Reference: Mark 5:34, Proverbs 2:11
Subject: God Has Equipped You With Everything You Need To Fulfill Your Destiny
Quick Notes From The Sermon:
Pastor Joel said that God has equipped all of us with everything we need to be successful. Being anointed means that God has lined up all that we need to live a victorious life. Don’t settle where you are. Have the attitude that God has equipped and empowered you with strength, wisdom and creativity. The enemy will fight you the hardest when he knows that God has something great in store for you. It’s never to late to live a victorious life. Shake off your defeated mindset and replace it with the mind of God.
When you walk in your anointing nothing sticks to you. Nothing can keep you down. When you face tough times, remind yourself that you are anointed to overcome. God will give you strength when you think you can’t go another day. Pastor Joel told about a dream he had of being in a battle zone with bombs dropping all around him. He remembered being amazed that none of the bombs touched him. After some time he went into a house to hide in a closet. Upon opening the closet he was faced with soldiers with guns drawn and he thought that that would be the end. But the soldiers just looked around as if they couldn’t see him. They eventually left and Pastor Joel said that God told him, "Things may be exploding all around you, but I have you in the palm of my hand".
Pastor Joel encouraged everyone to dream big dreams and to speak God’s word constantly. You are a child of the most high God and He has crowned you with glory and honor. God can turn the ordinary into extraordinary. Do your part by believing that you are anointed and God will do His part. No other person can stop you from being what God has called you to be. Don’t get bitter and try to make things happen. Keep believing and God will get you to where you need to be.

1. Platinum selling trio Trin-i-tee 5:7 has their latest CD, T57, in stores now. Having sold more than 2 million units with their first three projects, this new project is sure to add to their success. The new single is entitled “Listen” and it’s banging. I really like that “listen here!” part. Remember their first popular single, “God’s Grace”? Peep the cell phone in the “God’s Grace” video. Cell phones have come a long way!!
The CD has a beautiful renditon of Doug Miller’s popular church tune, “My Soul Is Anchored.” Two of the group’s members were personally affected by Hurricane Katrina and they felt that it would be fitting to record the song. The first two people to post a comment on their thoughts on “Listen” or the group will receive a free copy of the new CD!~Website, MySpace

DATE: Saturday, October 6, 2007
TIME: 7:00 p.m.
THE MUSIC:
Worship Team: Cindy Cruse Ratcliff, Israel Houghton, Steve Crawford, Choir & Band
Songs: Free For All, Turn It Around, Mighty To Save, How Great is Our God, The Stand, Still Standing, Something Happens
Are you “Still Standing”? I love this song!! From the reaction of the congregration, I think everyone agrees with me. This song should be Lakewood’s banner song! As soon as the first words of the song are sung you can feel the shift in the air. Hands go up and everyone’s singing with passion. This song means something different to everyone based on individual circumstances. It means a lot to be able to sing I went through this or that, but because of the grace, kindness and mercy of God I’m still standing. One of my all time favorites!
THE MESSAGE:
Scripture Reference: Joel 2:25, Joshua 1:9
Subject: How God Can Turn Back Time
Quick Notes From The Sermon:
Pastor Joel spoke about times in our lives when we wished we could turn back time because of lost opportunities. Sometimes we wish we could go back in our lives because of time we’ve wasted on a job, marriage or finances. Pastor Joel said that if you stay in faith, a shift will occur in your life. God is saying that He can turn back time and restore to you the years lost. The same God that turned back time for Hezekiah can do the same for you. Be bold like Hezekiah and ask God to restore lost years in your life.
Pastor Joel tearfully told the story of how his daughter was still a baby when his father died and he was suddenly thrust into the ministry. He said he did not remember much of his daughter’s early life because his life was so busy during that time. One day during his prayer time, he prayed about the time he missed with his daughter. He said that God restored back the years he missed, because now he is very close to his daughter and she would rather spend time with him than doing anything else.
Pastor Joel said that God will make up lost years. Don’t get complacent. God wants to bless you and restore lost time. You may have lost years due to depression, drugs or a bad marriage. Don’t get frustrated. Keep God’s promises in front of you and stay the course. Have the mindset that nothing is going to defeat you. Believe that God will restore lost years back to you. The heroes of faith are telling you to keep the faith. All of heaven is pulling for you. Stay the course, keep believing, and don’t give up on your future.

THE ATMOSPHERE:
Lakewood recently sent a medical and ministry team to Nairobi, Kenya where they delivered food, clothing and medical supplies to hungry children and their families. I’m very proud to be part of a church that cares as much about people in other countries as well as right here in the States. To learn more about outreach activities at Lakewood, visit the website.
