Sunday Best-Girl, You Better Testify!!
The show opened up with the lovely Martha Munizzi singing her hit, “Glorious”. The theme this week was “Divas of Song”, songs made famous by legendary female artists. The contestants are competing for some great prizes: a national recording contract with Zomba Gospel, a 2009 Toyota Camry, and a $300,000 prize package from Tide.
Let’s get started!
Sadly, Tasha was eliminated at the beginning of the show. First there was absolute silence, and then lots of tears! The four left are Crystal, Jermaine, Emily and Mrs. Shari.
Crystal started the show off with “Wind Beneath My Wings”. In rehearsals Martha advised Crystal to not over-sing, to just let the message of the song come through. She took the advise to heart, because she gave a strong performance. The ladies of Mary Mary said that she sung from her heart and soul and she had the skill to go out and tell the world about God. BeBe took out his wallet and asked her how much money she wanted! He said he would gladly pay to hear her perform.
Jermaine sang “I Go To The Rock”. I liked this song because it took me back to old-time church music. Martha said that he had “cross-over” appeal. Tina said that he had a unique voice, but advised him to not get lost in the vocal acrobatics. He did have a lot of vocal movements, but that seems to be his style. I thought he sounded great. It nice to see a young guy singing for God. He could reach a lot of young people that wouldn’t otherwise be reached. Read more
Notes From Lakewood Church-Your Very Presence Brings God Praise
PLACE: Lakewood Church-Houston, Tx
Joel Osteen, Pastor
DATE: Saturday, November 10, 2007
TIME: 7:00 p.m.
THE MUSIC:
Worship Team: Cindy Cruse Ratcliff, Israel Houghton, Da’dra Crawford Greathouse, Steve Crawford, Choir & Band
Songs: All Around, Sweeter, Say So, Your Love, Free To Worship, From the Inside Out, We Win, Song of Hope
Great night of worship as usual! It’s always great to see how much the audience loves to participate in worship. Everyone is on their feet as soon as the first notes are played. There is always a lot of anticipation in the air.
A new favorite song of mine is Free to Worship. Da’dra does a great job with this one. She seems to sing it differently each time and the lyrics implore you to worship God totally and without restraint.
THE MESSAGE:
Scripture Reference: Ephesians 2:10, Philemon 1:6, Psalm 139:14, Ephesians 1:12
Subject: We Are God’s Masterpiece
Quick Notes From The Sermon:
Pastor Joel spoke about being happy with who God made you to be. He said God designed us to be who we are on purpose. We are God’s most prized possession. Don’t go around wishing you had more of this or that. Accept who God made you to be. God breathed His very life into each of us. When you get up every morning you should say that you have God’s fingerprints all over you. Read more
Sunday Best-Courage, Boldness & Heart

Emily, Crystal, Jermaine, Tasha, Ms. Shari
The show opened and closed with the high energy stylings of Tye Tribbet and Greater Anointing. Sadly, at the beginning of the show Trevon and Janice were eliminated. The five left standing are Jermaine, Shari, Emily, Crystal and Tasha. Spotted in the audience were Flex Alexander and Shanice. The theme was popular anthems. 1. Jermaine sang a great rendition of “Oh, Happy Day”. His cool falsetto voice is starting to grow on me.
2. Ms. Shari sang Jill Scott’s “Golden” and she was a hit with the judges and the audience. She puts her unique stamp on everything she sings and it always comes out great. She preached after she finished singing! Kirk Franklin asked her how she is making it through the competition. She said that she makes it by renewing her mind and not letting fear be a part of her life.
3. Emily sang Yolanda Adams, “What About the Children”. I didn’t know that BeBe Winans wrote this song. He liked Emily’s version of it.
4. Crystal sang “Shackles”. It must have taken a lot of guts to sing that in front of Mary Mary, but she did great. She’s a lot of fun to watch because she sings with a lot of energy and passion.
5. Tasha sang “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now”. She has a great voice and she also sings with passion and energy.
Another great show! Tye Tribbett helped Beth Payne with commentating and he was funny. Erica Campbell, one half of the duo Mary Mary, gave a great interview on her view of Sunday Best. Be sure to watch Tuesday night. I can’t wait to see what’s up next! Visit BET for more information on the show and the contestants.
