The show opened and closed with the high energy stylings of Tye Tribbet and Greater Anointing. Sadly, at the beginning of the show Trevon and Janice were eliminated. The five left standing are Jermaine, Shari, Emily, Crystal and Tasha. Spotted in the audience were Flex Alexander and Shanice. The theme was popular anthems. 1. Jermaine sang a great rendition of “Oh, Happy Day”. His cool falsetto voice is starting to grow on me.
2. Ms. Shari sang Jill Scott’s “Golden” and she was a hit with the judges and the audience. She puts her unique stamp on everything she sings and it always comes out great. She preached after she finished singing! Kirk Franklin asked her how she is making it through the competition. She said that she makes it by renewing her mind and not letting fear be a part of her life.
3. Emily sang Yolanda Adams, “What About the Children”. I didn’t know that BeBe Winans wrote this song. He liked Emily’s version of it.
4. Crystal sang “Shackles”. It must have taken a lot of guts to sing that in front of Mary Mary, but she did great. She’s a lot of fun to watch because she sings with a lot of energy and passion.
5. Tasha sang “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now”. She has a great voice and she also sings with passion and energy.
Another great show! Tye Tribbett helped Beth Payne with commentating and he was funny. Erica Campbell, one half of the duo Mary Mary, gave a great interview on her view of Sunday Best.
