Fab Five!!-Gospel Songs That Minister

January 16, 2008 · Filed Under Fab Five!! · Comment

Ever gotten to the point where you just didn’t know what to do, say, or even pray? Problems on the job, with the children, husband, wife, health issues or financial difficulty can cause feelings of despair and discouragement. This week’s Fab Five is a listing of  gospel music songs that minister during the tough times. I believe God’s message to us through these songs is that we are loved unconditionally and His desire is for us to be blessed in the good times and bad.

1. Never Would Have Made It-Marvin Sapp-This is the top gospel song in the country right now and rightfully so. Marvin Sapp’s, Thirsty, album is full of great gospel songs that minister to the heart and soul. Only because of God’s grace are we “stronger & wiser”. I loved this song instantly when I heard it.

2. I Understand-Smokie Norful-I love the lyrics of this song. It’s great to know that God sees and understands what we go through. Even when others don’t understand, we can always count on God because he knows our hearts. Be sure to watch the video of Minister Stacy Johnson’s dance interpretation of this song on All About Gospel Music!!

3. Be Encouraged-Donald Lawrence & The Tri City Singers-Yup, sometimes you have to encourage yourself! Remember, God is a present help and He has given us what we need to encourage ourselves.

4. Faithful Is Our God-Hezekiah Walker-God is faithful! When we are disappointed in things, circumstances or people, we can rejoice in the fact that God is faithful to what He has promised.

5. You Are Not Forgotten/I Am Not Forgotten-Israel & New Breed-I love both these songs! “I Am Not Forgotten” is on the Alive In South Africa CD and is the more upbeat of the two songs. “You Are Not Forgotten”, sung with Jonny Lang, is a beautiful song with a laid back beat. I love the part of the song that says, “you are not just a face in the crowd, you are not a forgotten child”. God knows each of us by name and we are all special to him.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s Fab Five! What songs minister to you when you are going through difficult times? Post a comment to share your favorites.
