Steve & Da’dra led the worship team and they were fantastic. I love to hear Da’dra sing “Say The Name”. Awesome song! When you don’t know what to say, do or pray, just say the name of Jesus.

Congratulations to Israel and his band for winning a Grammy for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album for A Deeper Level! Israel is an important part of the worship team at Lakewood and everyone is very proud of his accomplishments.

~Sidenote to Israel: My 10 and 8 year old little ones love to listen to your CD’s. They especially like “With Long Life” with T-Bone. I’m sure they, along with the other little ones in Children’s Church, would love a visit from you! Just thought I’d ask…………………

THE MESSAGE:

Scripture References: Ephesians 1:3, 2:10, Matthew 9:29, James 4:10, Philippians 1:6
Subject: Having The Right Image on the Inside

Quick Notes From The Sermon:Pastor Joel said that we are all born to win, but life has a way of pushing us down. We were never created to be average. God created us in His image and breathed His life into us. He’s equipped us with all we need to succeed. Quit focusing on the negative and the mistakes you’ve made. Start seeing  yoursef as God sees you. God sees you as a champion.

“Holy cow. I’m truly, truly just trippin’ right now.”-Israel Houghton

Gospel Music was repped well at the Grammy Awards. The gospel showcase began with a gospel performance of “Never Gonna Break My Faith” by Aretha Franklin and BeBe Winans. The Clark Sisters, looking beautiful as usual, sung ”You Brought The Sunshine” with Trin-I-Tee 5:7.

Israel & New Breed turned out an energetic performanc of ”With Long Life.” My husband and I was waiting for T-Bone to come out to no avail and it was great to see former Lakewood choir director Dakri Brown.

The set ended with Franklin and the whole gospel cast singing ”Old Landmark”.

Best Traditional World Music Album:The Soweto Gospel Choir

Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album: A Deeper Level, Israel Houghton & New Breed
