Joel Osteen meets with Jay Bakker!
Just read in the Houston Chronicle that Pastor Joel finally met with Jay Bakker.  There’s been a firestorm of publicity about Pastor Joel not accepting the invite to Soulforce’s picnic invitation. Soulforce is a group that fights religious and political oppression of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders.

Pastor Joel normally meets with the visitors after services after Saturday service and that is where Jay Bakker finally tracked him down.  They agreed to meet privately the next day.

Because of Joel’s leadership role I think he should make his stance known. Using the excuse that Joel couldn’t meet with Bakker because he was working on his sermon was a bit lame. That made me laugh!

Well, maybe Pastor Joel has stated his position. He has said in the past that he “doesn’t think it’s God’s best”. Is this enough? What do you think?

From Lakewood’s Chief of Communications
Joel Osteen, his brother Paul, and I spent about 30 minutes with Jay Bakker after the last servie on Sunday. No one from Soulforce was present. The meeting was cordial, and we spoke about the many things. In the end, however, we continue to disagree with Soulforce and Jay Bakker’s position on this issue. –Donald Iloff, Chief of Communications for Lakewood Church.

Read the Christian Post Article. Perhaps, Osteen’s stance will satisfy you.
