Tamela Mann Interview
Visit Gospel Music Bites for an excerpt of an EEW Magazine interview with Tamela Mann. Tamela and her husband David are making a statement in the Gospel music arena with their music and roles in Tyler Perry plays.
EEW: You’ve gone very far. You were the only one in your family to graduate from High School. What made the difference for you?
Tamela: I looked at my other sisters and the experiences that they were going through, and I just flat out said, I don’t want that. I don’t want that type of life for myself. I don’t want to have to argue and fuss and fight with a man. So, I believe that’s why when it came to me choosing a husband, I did like the Word says. I wrote down my vision. I really asked God for what I wanted in a man, because I didn’t want to have to help somebody stop drinking and smoking. And I wanted someone that sang, so he would understand me coming in late at night if I was singing at a musical, so I wouldn’t have to be explaining, no, I have not been at the club, I’ve been at church. The things that I did ask God for, He did do it for me.

Subject: Being a People Builder
Quick Notes From The Sermon: Being a people builder means that you invest in others and you build up their confidence and encourage them to do their best. None of us will reach our highest potential by ourselves. We all should have someone we are encouraging and building up. Study them and you will see something in them that they don’t think they have. Pastor Joel said that it was amazing what a simple word of encouragement can do. Your words can be the seed that someone needs to fulfull their destiny. Don’t be so focused on yourself and your goals that you don’t reach out to others.
Everyone needs to be feel valued and appreciated. Are you believing in someone? Listen to their dreams and goals. We all should be someone’s number one fan. Pastor Joel advised everyone to look past what a person is and see what they can become. When you believe in others, they will rise to your expectations. Don’t withhold your blessings and be free with complements. It takes little effort and can mean so much to someone. The encouraging words that you speak are not merely words, but they are encouragement that will be remembered for a lifetime. Read more
