“With profound gratitude and great humility, I accept your nomination
for the presidency of the United States."-Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama

Barack Obama made history by accepting the Democratic presidential nomination. He made a lot of promises that I hope he is able to keep. I really do believe he will do his best to fulfill those promises. He blasted President Bush really good and painted a dismal picture of the hardship the country is currently facing.

His speech was a great one! It was electrifying from start to end. I am impressed that so far he is running a clean campaign. He is keeping the race based on the issues and not stooping to slinging mud. The audience of more than 84,000 was excited and very supportive of Obama. I really liked the part of his speech where he asserted that this campaign was not about him, but about the people that work hard to make the country work. He mentioned the historical significance of his speech falling on the 45th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King’s speech on Washington.

This is the first time I’ve watched the DNC from start to finish. It was a great convention. The world is ready for change and Obama seems poised to meet the challenge.

Some great quotes from Barack Obama’s speech:

I get it. I realize that I am not the likeliest candidate for this office. I don’t fit the typical pedigree, and I haven’t spent my career in the halls of Washington. But I stand before you tonight because all across America something is stirring. What the nay-sayers don’t understand is that this election has never been about me. It’s been about you.

Instead, it is that American spirit – that American promise – that pushes us forward even when the path is uncertain; that binds us together in spite of our differences; that makes us fix our eye not on what is seen, but what is unseen, that better place around the bend.

We cannot walk alone. At this moment, in this election, we must pledge once more to march into the future. Let us keep that promise – that American promise – and in the words of Scripture hold firmly, without wavering, to the hope that we confess.

What did you think about the speech? Is Barack’s Obama’s nomination a hopeful sign for a better America?

Me, my wife, and my three children were so inspired by the Senators speech. We feel as though there is still hope for our future. Never before have we felt so down, and then rejvenated by a single speech, a speech of hope. may God watch over and guide this great man. Our nation need him so much.

    Hi Benita,

For the first time in a long time, I feel hopeful too. I’m mindful of the fact that politicians always make a lot of promises they are not able to keep, but I feel that Obama is sincere and works hard to keep his integrity intact.

mr obama is not christian. his views are not christian. he quotes scripture and uses it for his purposes. sound familiar? he believes in killing children. both unborn and recently born from botched abortions(born alive child protection act. check his voting record. i did.). he claims their is more than 1 way to heaven. not according to Lord Jesus. for any christian to vote for a man who believes as obama does, is tad amount to blasphamy. people think it’s great to get a black president. i agree, it’s about time. to bad 1. he’s not black. he’s of middle eastern descent. 2. he should be voted in based on what he stands for, not color. add to that all those dr.king/obama t-shirts. sick. i doubt dr. king would support an anti-christian child killer who bad mouths the USA to foreign countries. and he did. i could not vote for a man so against christian values…..and no christian should. where is the love of life, love of country, and most importantly, love of our messiah! misquoting our God!
