Grammy Award winning Kirk Franklin is going to Europe! The ever-popular Franklin will perform his first concert in Poland on September 11th.
According to Warsztaty Gospel, the ever-popular Franklin will perform his first concert in Poland on September 11th. It appears that Gospel music is very popular in Poland:
In Poland we experience a genuine flourishing of the Gospel music. It is sung in churches, it sounds at numerous concerts, you can hear it on the radio, including commercial stations. You just need to listen carefully the lyrics as this is the very thing that makes difference from other genres – they are beautiful, deep, full of joy. It’s the message that attracts the youth to Gospel workshops organized throughout Poland, where participants learn how to sing Gospel. One proof of the influence range might be the fact that last year’s workshops organized by Pro Novis foundation in Poznan city gathered a choir of over 1,000 young people! So far the greatest workshops as far as the number of the participants in Poland. The enormous choir sang along with two Polish pop stars, Natalia Kukulska and Mietek Szczesniak.
Every few weeks we can see another workshops organized in Polish cities. Hundreds of young people learn how to sing Gospel, led by guest instructors from the USA or the UK. After the workshops the music is never over, it spreads contagiously from participants to their friends, families; the Gospel songs are being sung by bands and choirs. More and more people have the opportunity to hear this incredible music from their acquaintances, children, grandchildren.
This statement made me laugh a little: What ’s the uniqueness of the artist? During his concerts there are no drug dealers, no incidents with security, no swearing.
It’s great that the awesome legacy of Gospel music is so appreciated and loved internationally.
