Not Exactly Gospel Music Related……….Shaun Alexander Helps Kids Learn How To Play Chess
Former NFL player Shaun Alexander has donated $25,000 to help young kids learn how to play chess. He says that chess is a great game to help children become better thinkers.
A study on the New York City School Chess Program found that students who learn chess show dramatic improvement in their ability to think rationally. Students who participated in school chess clubs at four Houston-area schools improved their math and reading scores at twice the rate of other students.
Good for Shaun! My kids are learning to play chess at the local library. Their chess instructors are constantly telling them to think about their next move and to try to predict what their opponent is going to do next. Helps them to think in a totally different way.
