Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
This is an exciting time in our history! King’s legacy culminates tomorrow with the swearing in of the country’s first black president. Barack Obama has brought the country together just like Dr. King based on a message of equality for everyone.
The kids had a nice program at their school. They played Dr. King’s speech, sung “Lift Every Voice & Sing”, recited some poems, and spoke to everyone about spending the holiday in service for the community.
There will be two parades in Houston today because of a long-standing fued between The MLK Parade Foundation and the Black Heritage Society. I guess it will work out great because everyone will be out celebrating Dr. King and Barack Obama.
