How Sweet The Sound Choir Competition Exceeds Expectations
How Sweet The Sound Gospel Music Choir Competition A Big Hit
The Verizon How Sweet The Sound gospel choir competition has turned out to be a huge success. Turnout at the events seems to be very good–everyone I’ve talked to has said they enjoyed it immensely.
The national gospel music contest received thousands of audition tapes that was eventually narrowed down to 11 regional competitions around the U.S. On Saturday, November 7th, one winner from each regional area will compete in the finale in Detroit. The stakes are high–the choirs are competing for more than $25,000 in prizes and the title Best Church Choir in America.
“We never thought that this (community effort) would be such a huge success,” says Erica Sevilla, public relations manager with Verizon Wireless. “The first year, we had a challenge trying to get church choirs to actually send in their video submissions. I suppose the fact that this was a competition scared a lot of congregations away. But in direct response to the success of its first and second year, we received thousands of choir submissions this year.”
Donald Lawrence will be hosting and Marvin Sapp & Dorinda Clark Cole will serve as judges. All three will perform from their large collection of gospel songs throughout the evening.
Here is the list of the gospel music choirs that will be competing in the finale. Visit How Sweet the Sound to take a look at some great pics of the competition so far.
