Gospel Music News-Jennifer Hudson, Israel Houghton, TBN Christmas Specials
Be sure to tune in to Jennifer Hudson’s I’ll Be Home For Christmas on today at 8:00 pm ET on ABC. In the special Jennifer will be returning home to Chicago to celebrate the holidays with her family. She will be singing great gospel songs such as “The Christmas Song”, “O Holy Night”, and “Silent Night”.
Have you entered gospel music artist Israel Houghton’s Power of One Fan contest? You can win $500 and an autographed copy of Israel Houghton’s entire gospel music catalog. You have until December 17th to enter.
Fans of the Christian rock & worship band Delirious? will be able to watch the band’s farewell concert thanks to God TV. The concert was held last week in London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo. Fans will be able to see highlights of the concert in a three hour program on Sunday, December 27th and Monday December 28th. The live CD/DVD will be released in May 2010.

TBN has a great lineup of Christmas programming coming up from your favorite gospel music artists for this week. On Tuesday, December 15th you can watch Casting Crowns Christmas Celebration at 5:00 am. Wednesday brings us Anthony Evans-What Christmas Really Means at 12:30 pm and Clark Sisters Family Christmas at 11:00 pm.
You can catch the Donnie McClurkin Christmas Special From New York on Saturday at 4:00 pm. These shows would be great to DVR to enjoy with the family. All times are central time.

UK gospel promoters, artists and church leaders want to have a meeting between the gospel industry and church leaders. According to an article in Inspire Magazine, “over the past 10 years gospel promoters have seen their business radically decline as church leaders, with the backing of church finance, ‘buy in’ at a high premium Gospel artists from the US“. Apparently this practice has priced UK promoters out of their market and has raised concerns about the lack of support given to UK gospel music artists.
My city, Houston, made history this weekend as the largest U.S. city to ever have an openly gay mayor. Houston is home to the largest church in America, Lakewood Church, and now we have made history on another front. The new mayor, Anisse Parker, was running against Gene Locke, an African-American former attorney.
