I have had a ball this past year listening to a lot of great gospel music! I’m looking forward to a new year filled with even more great music. This list below is my top ten gospel songs of 2009. It was hard to narrow the list down to just ten, but I had to stop somewhere or this blog post would be much too long.

After I made the list I thought about two other gospel songs that made a big impact this year. Marvin Sapp’s “Never Would Have Made It” from the Thirsty album was released in 2007 but its impact was felt throughout 2009. The song struck a deep chord with many listeners because many could relate to the honesty and sincerity of the lyrics.

The gospel song “Cover Me” by 21:03 was another song that was a surprise hit. The video on youtube has over 110, 000 views and counting. I loved the song when I first heard it because of the stellar vocals (f/Fred Hammond & J. Moss) and the call to “cover” each other through prayer.
