Y’Anna Crawley’s answer to the singing secular music question
According to an article in Express Night Out, Sunday Best Season two winner Y’Anna Crawley has landed a contract with a major record label. She talked about her gospel music roots and the inspiration she gets from music. When asked what she would do if the new label tried to steer her towards secular music, this is what she said:
EXPRESS: If the new label suggests your music take a secular turn, would your heart follow?
CRAWLEY: Music is a universal language. I never want to put myself out there where I’m not able to convey a message in a song. I always want to help the hurt or heal the heart. If my music takes me pop, reggae or whatever, I can do it so long as my message — love conquers all — is clear.
Remember her bringing down the house singing “Grandma’s Hands”?
