A Gospel Calling: Mahalia Jackson Sings available April 13th
The voice and legendary life of gospel music artist Mahalia Jackson is celebrated in A Gospel Calling: Mahalia Jackson Sings, a DVD by the Infinity Entertainment Group.
The DVD, which will be available on April 13th, chronicles the life of one of the most celebrated and talented gospel music artists of the century. Mahalia Jackson was very influential during her time-she performed gospel songs for royalty, heads of state, and presidents.
She sung before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech during the 1963 march on Washington D.C., and she sang at John F. Kennedy’s inauguration.
I have always been impressed with Mahalia’s commitment to never performing secular music. Mahalia recorded 35 gospel music albums and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
