Congratulations to Mo’Nique for winning an Oscar for best supporting actress for her role as an abusive mother in the film Precious. In her acceptance speech she thanked the Academy, Hattie McDaniel, Tyler Perry, Oprah, her attorneys, her husband Sidney and her BET and Precious families.

“I would like to thank the Academy for showing that it can be about the performance and not the politics. To my amazing husband, Sidney-thank you for showing me that sometimes you have to forego doing what’s popular, in order to do what’s right.”

Gabourey Sidibe who played the role of Precious was nominated for best actress, but lost out to Sandra Bullock.

Precious will be available on DVD March 9th. You can pre-order now by clicking on the picture below.
