Some gospel songs are very simple songs and some of the gospel hits choruses have been no longer that 3 word lines. Gospel music can be simple to write but there are some techniques to be considered when you are writing it.
Step 1-Walk it. It is hard writing from the heart if the walk is not aligning with God’s word.
Step 2- Make sure you are writing from the heart. Be honest with your feelings.
Step 3- Get fired up! Praying before you write is known to get your mind, body and spirit in a creative mode and more receptive to hear from God. Reflect on some things God brought you through.
Step 4-Start writing. Decide who you are talking to. There are two kinds of gospel songs. Songs that praise God directly, and songs that praise God indirectly.
Step 5-Refer to the bible frequently. There is poems in there that can help you communicate certain feelings that you have inside.
