i don’t see how everyone is saying that they like this song. this is only a remix to tupac and Scarface song and people saying they love it. this is just too too far. wake up people and Kirk. you might as well go out and buy Scarface’s “my homies” double disc album and get this also. he says that he’s trying to reach the young people. the bible tells us be of this world but not conformed to it. you tell your children not to listen to rap, don’t dress like rap, don’t sag like rap, don’t wear your hair like rap, but then we support Kirk Franklin who is flat out “trippin” with some of the stuff he making.

  10. B N POSITIVE says

CORDI…DON’T KILL THE MESSENGER….I LIKE THIS SONG, IT IS THE WORDS THAT ARE POSITIVE. IT MAY BE A REMIX, AND SO ARE A LOT OF OTHER SONGS. IT MAY BE SIMILAR TO MY HOMIES AND SCARFACE, MANY SONGS ARE SAMPLED, I DO NOT LISTEN TO RAP, AND THIS DOES NOT SOUND LIKE A RAP SONG, OR SHOULD BE COMPARED TO ONE… THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT THIS SONG IS WRITTEN IN A POSITIVE NOTE. GOD USES PEOPLE IN MANY WAYS. FOR SOME PEOPLE THIS SONG LIFTS THEM UP. . WHEN I HEARD THIS SONG, ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS, TODAY’S A NEW DAY. AND I SMILED. SO THANK YOU KIRK.

Give me break cordi! This song is not a remake of Tupac & Scarface. The only similarity to Tupac and Scarface’s song is the bridge-’smile for me’. The beat and the words are totally different from the message and theme of Tupac and Scarface. Plus , Tupac and Scarface bridge- ‘smile for me, can you smile for mi’ is a sample of the group SOS from the early 80′s- so this is not even Tupac’s creation. Alot of artist have songs entitled smile. Think Michael Jackson.

Also, don’t question people’s love for the song. If someone is about to commit suicide and hears this song and change their minds- Would you say its the devil’s doing. Read the comments on youtube. Alot of people have been blessed by the song.

I know that’s right!!! U know , people’s critics are so dumb, they always find something wrong about that music or him, but the lyrics ,only matters !!!!! Anyway, I LOVE <3 Kirk Franklin, i can't wait for his new album to come out, in March!! the music " i smile " is a blessing, and make people think a little bit more!!!! Thanks Kirk for that song !!!!!

4 Real? Since when did the saints need to take a “sample” from the world in order to glorify God? When I heard the bridge, I immedietly had a flashback to riding around in Detroit with my sinful self….Not a vision we ought to have when worshipping the King of Kings….oh but wait…that’s right…It’s not a worship song….it’s “Inspirational”….should’nt be labled as Gospel…rather…Inspirational….Why would you sing that during a “Worship Service”….self worship maybe….Although, I am not surprised….it is Kirk Franklin…King of Secular Sampling to make Gospel Hits….

  18. Supportinggoodmusic says

So I guess those testimonies that has resulted from this song is the devil’s work! LOL

The Bridge on this song does not make it a hit. give me a break. The guy has a had lots of hits that did not contain any samples- Why we sing, conquerors, my life in your hands, hosanna, help me believe, imagine me etc

  19. says

    Hi Supporting Good Music,

Thanks for your comment. The thing that I have always loved about Kirk Franklin’s music is his ability to put out songs that have touched people from many walks of life. His music has always encouraged me and I’m sure countless others.

  20. Chantel says

Needless to say…He has changed over the years. Not to minimize the testimonies of people because that’s not what I’m here for, but people testify of Gods goodness afterthey hit the lotto or win big at the casino. Does that make it of God? There is a difference between somone being touched by a song and their emotions run wild…secular artists do it ALL the time, and someone who has been chisen by God to write/Sing/Produce and does it without comprimising. So, like I said I believe that when God births something, it is a pure and Heavenly sound…without the influence of Hip Hop or Pop Culture. When we as the Body of Christ grab hold of the fact that you can’t be a pleaser of God and hold on to the things of the world…we could then better help the people in the world that look at Christianity and their lifestyles as a joke! There IS A DISTINCT sound that comes from the Heavenlies that is used to shift an atmosphere…thats worship and that’s what God is seeking…True worshippers. Lets be God pleasers!

Hello to the listeners of this song. If God can use a donkey to get his message across and a Raven to feed his prophet surely he can use this song to minister to those who are hurting, and in need of a word. I hope this song will encourage someone and pierce that desire to learn more about the goodness of Jesus and how he can really do the impossible “REALLY.” He said in his word that he is good to those who serve him and there is nothing to hard for him. So, taste and see that the Lord is good and yes everyday is a NEW DAY!

I’m not the judge of Mr. Franklin my bible tells me that the wheat and the taff shall grow together and at the end he shall seperate them (that includes everyone either you’re going to be a wheat or a taff. So come on saints and sinners be yea not confromed to this world but be yea transformed by the renewing of your minds. Keep your eyes on Jesus. He told Disciples to leave them alone who were casting out devils in his name, he said at least they are not against us.

Choose yea this day whom yea shall serve for no man can serve two masters either you are gonna love one and hate the other. And if this song allows someone to choose Jesus then Amen too it. Its all about building the body of Christ, saving souls from the snare of enemy and redeeming souls from eternal life in hell. To my brother Kirk you have a lot of souls watching your life and God has chosen your vessel of music to make a impact for the kingdom. Let him say to you “WELL DONE” thy good and faithful servant. In everything you do let it be for his GLORY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started out not liking Kirk Franklins music. I thought it was too secular. But smile, That is another story. I dont know that i was going throught anything at the time i heard this song. but i do know that i had the radio blasting and was smiling so hard by the time i got home, My fiance looked at me, and asked was i alright, i told him i am ok, and God is good.

  23. says

    Hi Dabann,

Thanks for your comment on Kirk Franklin’s new music. Sometimes we all need to be reminded to smile and remember that God has everything under control.

  24. Lisa says

I enjoyed several cuts from this album. I bought for “SMILE” but I replay it for “But the Blood.” What a God, What A GOD. Thank God for The Blood. By the way, is there any sheet music available for this song?

  25. kizzy says

When I first heard the song, I was wondering if the song ‘give me’ was a remake. I think it is important as an artist for your music to grow as does your relationship with God, and I think that God should be able to give us new ideas, and new God inspired music. I think our music loses power when we mix it, and also I can not speak about Kirk’s relationship with God, but I think we (as a church) need to move past the point where we are struggling to make it, and move toward the power and glory of who we are in Christ. Jesus is our example and I do not see him depressed and usure of who he is, his relationship with his daddy was so close and intimate every move he made was ordained. My comment is not to down the artist. I just think that once our music comes from that place of intimacy, it will be fresher, more powerful, and make a greater impact.

  26. Francis says

Thank God Jesus didn’t come in this day and age….we would probably have killed Him the minute He sat down with “sinners” to eat.

People!! Listen with your heart and the Spirit and stop hating.

What if you had never heard the Tupac song; would that have made it alright? Or does the fact that it’s not even Tupac’s song but even older (as are so many gospel songs) not show you that it is you that has a negative mind?

“By Him all things were made, without Him nothing was made that was made.”
And “All things were made for His pleasure”

Sing Kirk, Sing to the Glory of God and keep changing lives!!

  27. Alice says

I loove this song I sing it all the time… Thank you Kirk….. May the lord continue giving you many more amazing inspiring songs.. God Blessss….How touching it makes my day all the time…
