The new Gospel music CD titled Church Boy from smooth jazz artist and producer Jackiem Joyner is now available for purchase on Amazon and stores everywhere. Preview the CD below and let me know what you think.
“My new album Church Boy stems from my time as a young and eager boy who wanted to play a part in music ministry. My music career is a testament to how God will bless you and how he will bring you out of something…you will come out much stronger.”
Jackiem’s story is an interesting one. After graduating high school, Jackiem found himself homeless after moving to Virginia. He lived in a shelter for almost six months before his pastor helped him to find a job and an apartment. A few months after being helped by his pastor he found himself homeless again, this time relegated to sleeping in his car for a month.
“I found myself praying a lot because these were very difficult times,” recalls Joyner. “No one knew I slept in my car for a month. I learned that if I didn’t experience those hard times, I believe my character would have been different. I don’t think I would have become the strong Christian that I am now. I don’t believe there is anything too hard for God, and I don’t believe there will be anything that will shake my faith again.”
From what I heard on the Amazon preview, the CD sounds great. I really like his take on Percy Bady’s “Still I Rise and Kirk Franklin’s “I Smile” on which he is joined by Kirk Whalum.
