I just love David and Tamela Mann!! They recently reaffirmed their vows and shared some of the details for the ceremony through video.
There was even an impromptu performance of “Take Me To The King” from Tamela and Kirk Franklin.
As congratulatory toasts were made by some of David and Tamela’s high-schools friends, Franklin took to the piano and began playing notes to “Take Me To The King,” motioning for Tamela to take the microphone. The collaboration at the reception was their first public performance of the mega-hit single since working together in the studio.
Tamela Mann Talks About Her Wedding Dress:
“My dress makes me emotional to talk about,” said Tamela. “I spent months designing the gown with the designer, so I knew every intimate detail of it, but when I saw it at my final fitting – I lost it. It was everything I could have ever dreamed of in a bridal gown and something 25 years ago I never would have imagined I’d ever get to wear. I felt like I was in a fairytale in it, but I have to say, no more than I felt 25 years ago when I was blessed enough to marry my forever love, my best friend, my baby daddy, David.”
According to US Weekly, David and Tamela Mann renewed their vows in Dallas, Texas on Saturday, April 20th. The two were wed legally in 1988, but didn’t have the money for the wedding they desired.
“When we got married 25 years ago, we didn’t have enough money for a wedding,” explains Tamela, whose pastor married the couple in his study. At the time, the “Take Me To The King!” singer even had to borrow a ring.
This year, however, Tamela finally got her dream wedding. The bride “spent months” working with Binzario Couture to design the perfect gown. “I knew every intimate detail of it, but when I saw it at my final fitting last week, I lost it,” she recalls. “It was everything I could have ever dreamed of in a bridal gown.”
“We wanted a fairytale wedding, so we picked an enchanted forest theme,” Tamela says. With the help of KP Designs, the Grammy winners were able to incorporate live trees and “all kinds of flowers” in the decor.
“We hosted everyone at the Joule Hotel because it had the feel we were trying to create — old-world romantic, beautiful, chic and lush — and a place everyone would love,” Tamela tells Us. “And it had space for a dance floor, which if you know David, was something we had to have!”
The Cake Guys created the couple’s wedding cake, and Christy Davison from Dallas’ Sweet Creations made the groom’s cake. Tamela — who starred in Perry’s hit television series Meet The Browns with her husband — says they wanted to “keep the invite intimate.” Their high school friend Kirk Franklin and his wife Tammy attended, as did Timbaland and his wife Monique Idlett Mosley.
David Mann said that they couldn’t share too many details about the wedding ceremony because it was all going to be shown in their upcoming reality show. I can’t wait to see it! Each of their grandchildren participated in the wedding dressed as princes and princesses. Adorbs!!
