According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Bishop William Murphy was arrested Wednesday afternoon for allegedly taking a gun to the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Bishop William Henry Murphy III was carrying a 9 mm handgun in his carry-on luggage, according to the warrant by the Clayton County Police Department. A Transportation Security Administration official allegedly discovered the weapon during an X-ray screening. Murphy does have a license to carry permit, the warrant states.
Murphy appeared in court on Thursday where his bond was set at $2,500. He was charged with misdemeanor possession of a weapon in an unauthorized area.
Murphy received the title of bishop earlier this week.
