Fab Five!!-Waging War with CeCe Winans
CeCe is not only beautiful on the outside, but her inner beauty shines brightly. Whenever you hear CeCe sing you get the feeling that she lives what she sings about and that the love she has for Jesus Christ and the people of God is sincere.
CeCe’s career began with her brother BeBe on the TV show, “The PTL Club” (now known as “Praise The Lord”). After leaving PTL, BeBe and CeCe recorded together and put out many successful albums. In 1995 they decided to part and pursue solo careers.
CeCe’s solo career started off wildly successful. The release of “Alone in His Presence” garnered her a gold certification, a Grammy Award, two Dove Awards and Female Vocalist of the Year. She went on to record many more successful albums, and her eighth solo album “Thy Kingdom Come” is climbing up the Gospel music charts. CeCe describes herself as a worshipper. She is a true Gospel music treasure who is filling the world with her wonderful music.

1. Waging War-This is the current single from CeCe’s latest album Thy Kingdom Come. ChristianityToday describes this album as an ”all-out praise-and-worship gala.” This song is a declaration that believers are going into battle to put an end to lack and defeat. I love the bridge to this song. We’re Waging War!
I’m tired of principalities
Messing with me
I’m tired of the devil
Stealing from me
I promise he won’t get
One more thing
I’m taking it back
Taking territory
I’m ready for the battle
I’m ready to win
My weapon of power
He lives within
I can’t be defeated
The enemy gotta flee
I’m taking it back.

2. Alabaster Box-Written by Janice Sjostran, this song tells the story of a woman who was ridiculed as she presents some oil, encased in an alabaster box, as an offering to Jesus. Be sure to watch the video of this anointed song here.
3. I Am-From the Everlasting Love album.
4. Hallelujah Praise-From the Throne Room album which was RIAA gold-certified.
5. I Surrender All & No One-I love to see comments such as these because it lets me know that CeCe’s music is touching lives all over. I would like to say “Thanks!” to CeCe also for being such a wonderful role model.
“A wonderful CD that has to have come from somewhere besides Earth! She is a miracle and this CD got me through the grief when my father died. Thank you, CeCe!”
“God used this album to bring some great breakthroughs in my life. I definitely recommend this album for anyone going through the storms and even for those in a time of rejoicing.” Source for comments

Since Kirk Franklin has the #1 gospel song in the country for Declaration (This Is It!), I thought I would do this week’s Fab Five on him. I remember when Kirk Franklin burst on the scene with “Stomp” and the ruckus it caused. He was revolutionizing Gospel music and not everyone was happy. He’s come a long way since then, and his music has also.
Kirk’s life has been in the public eye since his debut and we’ve seen him go through many highs and lows. From his fall from a stage into an orchestra pit, the lawsuits, the troubles in his marriage, and his confession of his struggle with pornography, Kirk has allowed us to see his life struggles up close. His transparency has helped us to see that he has shortcomings like all of us, but God’s grace and mercy makes all the difference in the world.
Kirk Franklin continues to crank out hit after hit. He’s sold 10 million albums and has won 3 Grammys and 7 Dove awards. Some of his other songs I love are “Brighter Day”, “Silver & Gold”, “Now Behold The Lamb”, “September”, “Hosana”, “Melodies From Heaven”, and ”Lean On Me”. Kirk Franklin is a gospel music favorite and his music never dissapoints.

1. Declaration (This Is It!)-This is from the latest album, The Fight of My Life. My kids love this one and also the one with TobyMac. Purchase the MP3 for your Ipod here: Declaration (This Is It!)
2. Stomp-The song that put Kirk on the gospel map. It was hard hitting and in your face with some rap thrown in from Salt from the female rap duo, Salt & Pepa.
3. Imagine Me-This one is my favorite Kirk Franklin songs. It encourages everyone to see themselves as God sees them. I’m sure many people were set free from the beautiful and affirming lyrics. This is a song that should be listened to every day. Purchase the MP3 for your Ipod here: Imagine Me
4. Looking For You-From the Hero album. Purchase the MP3 for your Ipod here: Looking For You
5. Something About That Name w/Rance Allen-Anything with Rance Allen has to be great! This song speaks for itself. The name of Jesus takes care of everything, imagined or real. Purchase the MP3 for your Ipod here: Something About The Name Jesus

Fab Five!!-Kid Style
I got this week’s Fab Five from my two precious little ones. When I asked them what their favorite gospel songs were they were a bit hesitant to tell me. They gave me a big smile and asked me why I was asking them that question. Apparently they think that a lot of what they tell me gets put into one of my blogs. I don’t know why they think that……
I was able to coax some of their favorites from them and it did make it to this blog. I just won’t tell them.
My kids have been hearing gospel music all of their lives. I think of it as an investment in their spiritual beings. As they grow older and go through the various changes of life I firmly believe that gospel music will always be a comfort to them when they need it.
1. With Long Life & Surely Surely-Israel and New Breed-Kids seem to like upbeat songs, and my kids took a quick liking to these two songs. They even know the track numbers to get to them quickly.
2. I’ve Got The Victory-Yolanda Adams-This one is a favorite of mine too.
3. This Is It-Kirk Franklin-Kirk has always gotten the attention of the young crowd starting with the breakout single “Stomp”. He hasn’t lost his touch with this one. Cool album cover!
4. In The Sanctuary-Kurt Carr-This is one they hear in church a lot and I hear them singing around the house. I like a lot of Kurt Carr’s songs, so I was happy to hear that they liked this one.
5. LeCrae, Da Truth, T-Bone, Canton Jones-I don’t listen to gospel rap a lot but of course the kids like it. What I hear blasting from their room when they are getting ready for school sounds pretty good. ”Jesus Muzik” by Lecrae is one of their favorites.
I hope you enjoyed this week’s Fab Five. What songs are favorites of the kids in your life? Post a comment and let us know. To get things started, we are giving the first person to post a comment a free copy of T57 by Trin-i-tee 5:7. Post those favorites! We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

This week’s Fab Five is what’s being listened to on gospel radio right now. They are from the top 10 popular songs according to Nielsen. Gospel radio has always played an important part in the African-American community. I’m sure many of us can remember getting up Sunday morning to the smell of biscuits and bacon and gospel music blaring in the background.
Gospel music has come a long way. Even though the beats, melodies, and production have changed, the message has remained the same. Support your local gospel radio station! You can listen to many of them online now. My favorite thing to do in the morning is to tune in to Houston’s Praise 92.1 FM. I love to listen to Yolanda Adam’s and comedian Marcus D. Wiley.
1. ”Praise On The Inside”-J. Moss is a part of urban contemporary’s hottest production companies, PAJAM, and has been an instrumental part of some of gospel music’s biggest hits. His father, Bill Moss, Sr., was the founder and leader of the popular gospel act, Bill Moss & the Celestials. He is the nephew of Dr. Mattie Moss Clark and cousin of the Clark sisters.
2. “Never Would Have Made It”-Marvin Sapp-This song was on last weeks Fab Five, but it deserves another mention because it’s breaking all kind of records. It’s been #1 on gospel radio for six consecutive months and is the only gospel song in the country that is number one at a mainstream radio station. Marvin gave a great performance of this song on BET’s Celebration of Gospel. Be sure to visit the squidoo page that is in tribute to Marvin Sapp.
3. “One God”-Maurette Brown Clark-Awww………how cute! Be sure to take a peek at Maurette’s picture with her daughter, Jada, on her website. I’ve loved Maurette since her first single “Breaking of Day” hit gospel radio in 1998. She received the Stellar Award for Best New Artist in 1999.
4. “Call Jesus”-Bruce Parham-Love this song! We’ve all been disappointed by people that we thought we could count on. Call on Jesus and He’ll be right there!
5. “He’s Done Enough”-Beverly Crawford-I can relate to the words of this song. Even if God doesn’t do anything else for me, I thank Him for what He’s done already. But the good news is, He wants to bless us beyond our wildest dreams.
