JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise get nine first round Stellar Award nominations
Yup, it’s almost time for the Stellar Awards again! There is a lot of great Gospel music out now so the show should be good.
The voting schedule so far is:

Their Gospel song “Resting On His Promise” has been on Billboard’s Top Gospel Song’s chart for 40 weeks. Another chance to see the Stellar Awards on GMC this weekend
Stellar Awards on GMC This Weekend Wraps up Black History Month
A great way to end Black History Month would be watching the 25th Anniversary Stellar Awards-the premier gospel music event that recognizes and honors gospel music artists.
You can tune in on Sunday, February 28th at 8:00 pm EST on Gospel Music Channel.
The 25th Anniversary show was a great one, and I’m glad that it has come on many times so everyone has a chance to watch it.
The co-hosts were gospel music artists Vickie Winans, Kirk Franklin, and Donnie McClurkin. Legendary vocalists Tremaine Hawkins, Shirley Caesar and Dottie Peoples will appear on stage together, as will Donnie McClurkin, Marvin Sapp and Byron Cage.
The show will also feature piano collaborations from gospel music artist Smokie Norful and Richard Smallwood, Hezekiah Walker with his Love Fellowship Choir and Ricky Dillard and New G with a Choir Collaboration. Other performers include BeBe & CeCe Winans, Kirk Franklin singing a medley of hits, Crystal Aikin, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Israel Houghton performing with Mary Mary, and Donald Lawrence with the Verizon Wireless How Sweet the Sound winners, the Atlanta West Pentecostal Church Choir.
Mark your calendars or set your DVR’s for Sunday! Be sure to post a comment about your thoughts on the show. One thing that comes to mind for me is the note that Dottie Peoples belted out during her performance with gospel legends Shirley Caesar and Tremaine Hawkins. Classic………

Congrats to Hezekiah Walker on winning five Stellar Awards. He won for Artist of the Year, Choir of the Year, Contemporary Choir of the Year , CD of the Year (Souled Out) , and Contemporary CD of the Year (Souled Out).
In an article on Gospel Music Channel, Bishop Walker had this to say about his Stellar Award win: “I can hardly believe it. I’m both humbled and surprised. I had no expectation of winning. I’ve been in this industry for so long and won my share of awards, and after so long you feel like you come up against people who the light is now shining on. Like Donald Lawrence.
He’s produced so many people and written all these great projects. I thought they were going to give it to him. The record was big, but I didn’t think it was big enough to win five Stellars, so it really makes me feel embraced and appreciated by the industry.”
The gospel music CD, Souled Out, has some great gospel songs on it. My favorites are “Souled Out” and “God Favored Me”.
