David & Tamela Mann Talk About Their Love for Each Other & Gospel Music
Gospel Music Artists David and Tamela Mann Grace Cover of Precious Times Magazine

I hadn’t gotten a Precious Times magazine in the mail lately, and I was wondering what was going on. According to the editors page, their distributor went out of business and they couldn’t ship out any issues until they secured a new one.
For their Spring 2009 issue they interviewed David and Tamela Mann and it was a refreshingly honest interview. The Mann’s touched on how they met, their beginnings in gospel music and acting, and how they keep their marriage alive.
I think David Mann is hilarious as Mr. Brown and throughout the interview I got the feeling that he is that way all the time. On the subject of their being friends first he said: “I was just going to give her a kiss as a friend. She forced herself on me”.
They both had this to say about their shacking up and eventually getting married:
Tamela: ” When you know what to do and you don’t do it, it’s a sin because you know better. I said ‘David, it doesn’t make sense to go to the altar and then go back to our same situation.’ We would go right back into sin; we were shacking. Raised as a Pentecostal, I was taught that it is the straight way or no way. I told him, ‘David we can’t go back home the same way.’”
Tamela on getting married: “I cried, but I felt so relieved and free. It was such a relief from my shoulders once we made our vows. I just knew in my heart that I loved this person and wanted to be with him for the rest of my life. That night we went home and made love. It is such freedom when you do things the right way…..It was like being in another realm.”
David: “Before we got married, we were struggling, but once we made our vows and committed our lives to the Lord, things started changing for us. We still had struggles, but they weren’t that hard anymore.”
I heart David & Tamela. Be sure to visit the Precious Times website and order your subscription and sign up for the free newsletter. There is also an article in the 2009 issue with gospel music group 21:03 where they talk about handling sexual temptation.

Gospel Music News-David & Tamela Mann, Ghana Music Awards
1. Don’t you just love David & Tamela Mann aka Cora and Mr. Brown? According to an article by Jawn Murray, they have been married over 20 years, and began their careers as members of Kirk Franklin and the Family. Tamela’s powerful voice can be heard on many hit records and David is funny as all get out on the Tyler Perry movies. I’m not feeling the Meet the Brown’s sitcom that comes on television, but the movies are hilarious.
2. Kreative Music artist Karmen Michael has announced early details of his highly anticipated urban gospel album, “Digital Praise,” due out this summer. The first single, Stimulus Package (Help is On the Way), is a timely, uplifting, and speaker thumping reminder that although everyone suffers, a little faith goes a long way. Take a listen here.
