Gospel Music News-Stellar Awards, GMWA, Spirit Fest 2008
1. The Black Gospel Blog has a great interview with Gospel rapper Canton Jones. His latest project is Kingdom Business, and he says the album is about taking the message of Jesus Christ outside the four walls of the church to the streets, schools, clubs, and malls. Canton has been in Gospel music for quite a while. He grew up listening to Gospel and his dad was in a Gospel quartet.
Your dad sang quartet? Tell us about the Nobleaires.
The Nobleaires. They were like the Jackson Southernaires. At that time, every quartet had to have “aires” in their name. But imagine an eight, nine year old kid – the members would push me out in the front to sing. I learned to relate to old and young through my experience with the Nobleaires.
2. PrayzeHymnOnline has a great feature of the worst Gospel album covers ever. I thought this was very funny! I know I have often wondered what made Kiki Sheard pick the album cover she did for her "This is Me" album. Great album, depressing album cover! It was # 4 on the list. BeBe Winans received the distinguished honor of being #1 for his "Cherch" album.
HAVE YOU EVER SCROLLED through the gospel section at your favorite record store and actually had to do a double take on an album cover? And not because of its goregous layout, but for the opposite…because of tasteless color schemes, bad photography, cheesy Photoshop homework and tired fonts.

Krumping for Christ-Another Way to Worship?
Krumping got its start on the streets of South Central Los Angeles about 10 years ago, among young people looking for a way to fight back in a creative way against a life of struggle. It’s a regular feature of the Mattapan church’s youth ministry, as well as with a larger Boston community of hundreds of young people who feel a connection to God.
"We don’t just do it to dance. We do it for something higher. Something more than us, more than movements, more than anything we say out of our mouths. . . . We’re using this as a weapon to fight against the things that we go through daily."-Benito Henri
"There are a lot of ways to worship. . . . This is our way."-Giovanni Pabon of Randolph, one of Jubilee’s Royal Family
