Sunday Gospel!-Gospel Rapper Dooney Da Priest

Dooney Da Priest is a Gospel music rapper that has launched a war against the sagging pants trend that is popular in our cities. I can’t say that I agree with the "downlow" references in the song, because I think the look is just a popular fashion statement. I do agree that the trend is not a good one.

There is this junior high school student in my neighborhood that takes his sagging look very serious. He looks very put together otherwise, but to see him struggling to walk with his baggy pants is hilarious to me. It looks like his pants are ready to fall down at any second. Another kid that lives on my block likes the look also, but is respectful enough to get it together when I tell him, "boy, pull your pants up!".

I’m glad that the school my boys go to require them to tuck their shirts in and wear belts. Hopefully the baggy pants fad will be long gone by the time they are old enough to care. Then it’s on to the next fad……….

If you are close to Detroit be sure to attend "The City of David Gospel Fest & Car Show" on June 28th at God’s Graceland Park. Starting time is at 9:00 a.m. Performers include Gospel music legend Rance Allen, Ernest Lee & Spirit of David, Detroit Saxman Montee Jefferson, and many others. In addition to great Gospel music, you can also enjoy food, train ride and inflatables for the kids, and The GGT Classic & New Car Show. Sound like a great time! I love Rance Allen, so if you go let me know how it was.~Gospel Fest
