JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise get nine first round Stellar Award nominations
Yup, it’s almost time for the Stellar Awards again! There is a lot of great Gospel music out now so the show should be good.
The voting schedule so far is:
8/9/10-8/27/10-First ballot available for online voting. SAGMA members only.
9/13/10-9/30/10-Second and final ballot for online voting. SAGMA members only.
10/27/10-11/22-10-Public Fan Favorite for various categories.
One of my favorite Gospel music groups, JJ Hairston and Youthful Praise, has garnered nine Stellar Award nominations for the first round. The nominations include Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, CD of the Year, Choir of the Year, Producer of the Year, Contemporary CD of the Year, Contemporary Choir of the Year, Recorded Music Packaging of the Year and Praise and Worship CD of the Year.
Their Gospel song “Resting On His Promise” has been on Billboard’s Top Gospel Song’s chart for 40 weeks. Having most recently participated as a judge on the Verizon How Sweet The Sound choir competition, Hairston and Youthful Praise continue to receive rave reviews for their breath-taking performances, energetic styles and heartfelt messages. Treat your mom to some great gospel music by taking her to the Gospel Music Festival in celebration of Mother’s Day. The Stellar Awards sponsored event will take place over three days starting Friday, May 7th and will feature many top gospel music artists. It will be held in Orlando, Florida at the Rosen Shingle Creek Gaitlin Auditorium.
Sunday Best 2 winner Y’Anna Crawley’s debut solo CD is scheduled for a July 13, 2010 release. Be on the lookout for “Grandma’s Hands” which has been chosen as the first single for radio.

Coming up on TBN: Monday, April 12th-Gospel music artist CeCe Winans will be hosting Bishop Harold Ray, Pastor’s Steve & Mary Alessi, Pastor Tim Johnson, Nia Allen and Marvin Winans, Jr.
Eddie Velez’s Straight Talk on Streaming Faith had a sit down with PK PJ Morton. He talks about growing up as the son of a preacher and his music. His new CD Walk Alone is in stores now. Hmm……he held a PK conference with some other preacher’s kids for about three years.
Gospel music artist Maurette Brown-Clark will be holding a live recording on April 23, 2010 at Calvary Revival Church in Norfolk, VA. This will be the fourth recording for the “Princess of Praise & Worship”. Visit her at her website for more information on the gospel recording.

Celebrate Mother’s Day in Florida at the Stellar Awards Gospel Music Festival
Vickie Winans to Host Along with Akintunde
The Stellar Awards Gospel Music Festival will be held in Orlando, Florida Friday, May 7 through Sunday May 9, 2010 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and Spa.
The festival will feature three days of gospel music from your favorite gospel music artists. A Mother’s Day Gospel Brunch and Runway Fashion Show is also scheduled during the festival.
“After 25 years of producing and perfecting Gospel Music’s premiere awards show, The Stellar Gospel Music Awards has decided to create another weekend-long event like no other to celebrate Mother’s Day,” said Don Jackson, CEO and founder of Central City Productions, the producers of the Stellar Awards and the Stellar Gospel Music Festival.
“We intend to make The Stellar Awards Music Festival the top destination for Gospel talent and fans to come together and celebrate their shared faith, Mother’s Day and Gospel Music. We are excited that the Orlando Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has partnered with us in building what we know will be the nation’s largest Gospel Music Festival.”
