PLACE: Lakewood Church-Houston, Tx, Joel Osteen, Pastor

DATE: Saturday, October 11, 2008

TIME: 7:00 p.m.

THE MUSIC:
Worship Team: Steve Crawford, Da’dra Crawford Greathouse, Cindy Cruse Ratcliffe, Choir & Band

The worship team did a great job on Lincoln Brewster’s "Today is The Day".

THE ATMOSPHERE:
Victoria Osteen has a new book out entitled Love Your Life: Living Happy, Healthy, and Whole . I’m sure it’s a great book because when she speaks to the congregation she gives great advice to families-wives and mothers in particular. FaithBasedBlog posted a great video that Victoria did with Sally Quinn. Check it out below:

I love the interview that Victoria had with The Houston Chronicle . In it she shares why nobody calls her ‘Vicky’.

Q: "You don’t dislike ‘Vicky’?" her brother asks.
A: Well, nobody ever calls me that.

My mother told me when I was a little girl if anybody ever called me Vicky to tell them that my name is Victoria. And when you are a little bitty girl, you do what you mom tells you.

So nobody calls me Vicky. Joel calls me Vic. My brother-in-law calls me Queen Vic.

JoelVic has quite the publishing dynasty going on.

My vision for Notes From My Church is for others to share what is going on in their church services. I would love to hear what is going on in other places of worship. Let’s all share and encourage each other. It doesn’t have to be long, fancy, or perfect. Just place it in the following format: The Music, The Message, The Atmosphere and e-mail it to me at dominique@1800gospel.com. I’m looking forward to hearing from you! Thanks!

Notes From My Church-Jury Rules in Favor of Victoria Osteen

August 14, 2008 · Filed Under Notes From My Church · Comment

I know that Pastor Joel & Victoria are relieved! I know I’m glad it’s over.

Houston jurors didn’t buy a Continental flight attendant’s story that Victoria Osteen assaulted her on a flight to Vail. The civil jury reached a unanimous verdict in favor of Osteen after brief deliberations Thursday afternoon.~KHOU

Notes From My Church-Following the Victoria Osteen Court Case

You can follow the court case as it happens at KHOU’s court blog .

Prayer for Court Case

Father, in the name of Jesus, it is written in Your Word to call on You and You will answer me and show me great and mighty things. I put You in remembrance of Your Word and thank You that You watch over it to perform it.

I say that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and any tongue that rises against me in judgment I shall show to be in the wrong. This peace, security, and triumph over opposition is my inheritance as Your child. This is the righteousness I obtain from You, Father, which You impart to me as my justification. I am far from even the thought of destruction; for I shall not fear, and terror shall not come near me.

Father, You say You will establish me to the end — keep me steadfast, give me strength, and guarantee my vindication; that is, be my warrant against all accusation or indictment. Father, You contend with those who contend with me, and You perfect that which concerns me. I dwell in the secret place of the Most High, and this secret place hides me from the strife of tongues, for a false witness who breathes out lies is an abomination to You.

I am a true witness, and all my words are upright and in right standing with You, Father. By my long forbearing and calmness of spirit the judge is persuaded, and my soft speech breaks down the most bone-like resistance. Therefore, I am not anxious beforehand how I shall reply in defense or what I am to say, for the Holy Spirit teaches me in that very hour and moment what I ought to say to those in the outside world. My speech is seasoned with salt.

As a child of the light, I enforce the triumphant victory of my Lord Jesus Christ in this situation, knowing that all of heaven is backing me. I am strong in You, Lord, and in the power of Your might. Thank You for the shield of faith that quenches every fiery dart of the enemy. I am increasing in wisdom and in stature and in years, and in favor with You, Father, and with man. Praise the Lord! Amen.

Notes From My Church-Nothing Can Separate Me & The Court Case

August 7, 2008 · Filed Under Notes From My Church · Comment

Da’dra, Israel and the team did a great job on the new "Nothing Can Separate Me".

The Court Case

Remember the incident in 2005 with Victoria Osteen and the flight attendant? Seems so long ago I forgot about it. Well, the jury selection for the civil trial began yesterday in Houston. It is now officially Sandra Brown v. Victoria Osteen. The attorney representing Victoria Osteen in the lawsuit is the legendary Rusty Hardin who has represented baseball pitcher Roger Clemens. Pastor Joel is expected to testify and was there with Victoria during jury selection.

The flight attendant, Sandra Brown, says that she was assaulted by Victoria Osteen over a water stain on her first-class seat and she wants an apology and 10% of the Osteen’s net worth.
